college bound... round two

i'm excited to say that im back in school... it's going to be an extremely challenging time ensuring that i wear all of the hats that i have to the best of my ability... my son and family are number one, of course, and have the day job that's been eating up more time than it ever really should, but school is something that i'm looking forward to get into the fold....

so, what am i going back for you ask?  i'm going to be getting a music production degree working along side industry experts and the standard gear... of you that already know, that typically consists of a macbook pro, pro tools, and logic.... all of which are being provided...

the tracks that i've been working on, while a learning experience, i felt they were lacking that certain something that would really make them go boom... now, i'll have the opportunity to get the formal training and foundational education alongside the appropriate hard/software... coupling these pieces together gets me pumped as i know the work i'll be putting in now will directly translate to all of the music related work i'll be doing in the future...

sorry for the diatribe, just chomping at the bit to begin and wanted to share... i'll be sure to post my progress as i complete the program and share any and all tracks i come up with... thanks for reading and i'm looking forward to sharing my progress in the upcoming months.

cheers!

birdland...

as i've played the saxophone for the past 15 or so years i thought it fitting to pull the tenor sound into the techno music that i love so much... here's my second track fresh out of the studio... birdland is a tribute of sorts to Parker, and while it pales in comparison to the work he's done... this is a simple thank you to him for the incredible jazz music he's created....

worked out the bugs…

So I’ve been a bit out of the loop for the moment and I do apologize… on the plus side, the gear has arrived and I’ve spent the majority of the time setting it up and working out the bugs… I’ve come to point where I’m able to record and am excited to be able to share some sets once again… fingers crossed, within the next week or so I’ll be posting some new stuff

new gear and setup comin' soon!!!

So with my birthday not even a week old and the help from some tax money and some gift cards my loving girlfriend and family provided, i'm going to be picking up some new gear... similar to a previous set-up Richie Hawtin and Chris Liebing used i've opted to pick up a 4 channel mixer coupled with an A&H D1 and D2... the D2 is an upgrade i chose due to the internal sound card and additional midi mappings... The added flexibility of channel specific lines as well as the midi-mapping of the D1/D2 is really going to free-up my mind and hands to really begin to push the limits of my sets... def looking forward to placing the order and setting up the new gear...

On a set related not, here's one i put up a few days ago... half way thru the set my tracks locked up, so had to combine the mp3s on the back-end to keep the flow going... this one's a lil more upbeat w/ 130 bpm and driving base lines i'm addicted to... listen close toward the end of the set, the one sounds like a train speeding by in the night...

Enjoy!
